Bio

BACKGROUND

Born into a Mennonite colony in Parguay, South America and raised on the praries in the Bible Belt of Central Canada, Lorraine Hildebrand, aka Raine grew up the old-fashioned way with Mom baking bread every week and church on Sundays.

In her early 20's she took a leap into the unkown and started backpacking her war around the world. Eventually she found herself in love with the epic land (and warmth!) of the Australian continent. She decided to make this place her home and eventually made her way back as an Manufacturing Engineer in her early 30's. 

She came to Far North Queensland in 2021 and only then discovered an incredible new passion for music and community. She's been learning the craft and developing her networks and skills ever since. 

You can find her playing cover gigs all around Cairns as well as busking regularly on the Cairns Esplanade. She is also studying music at Central Queensland University.

Raine Dance is an emerging singer-songwriter who swapped her corporate career for chords and courage in 2022—with barely any musical training beyond singing in church as a child in the prairies of Canada. Now based in FNQ, she’s found her voice, taken up the keyboard, and is passionately building her craft from the ground up through her studies at CQU. 

Her music blends gorgeous covers through the ages with deeply personal originals, delivered with soul and a bit of sass. You can often catch her singing her heart out—barefoot and beaming—on the Cairns Esplanade.
